In 2017, KBS offered a good list of K-dramas that won the hearts of many. It’s time to look back and check if you guys missed something good last year.
BUT before we head on to the list, here are few notes.
This is a list of dramas aired and ended in 2017. Any drama that began in 2017 but will end in 2018 is not included.
I only listed those dramas I’ve seen fully (from episode 1 to final episode). There are dramas who have raving reviews, but I didn’t finish because one, it’s not for me, and two, it’s boring. Feel free to suggest your favorite drama
I’ll be sharing you my personal ratings and opinion so that you’ll know what to expect. Promise, NO SPOILERS.
The list is in no particular order because how dare I! 🙂
So the must-watch KBS K-dramas of 2017 listing begins here:
Individualist Ms. Ji Young 9.5/10
Episodes: 2 | Genre: Romance, Comedy | Release Date: May 8 – 9, 2017
“Ji-Young (Min Hyo-Rin) is a thorough individualist and she does not have a relationship with others. Byeok-Soo (Gong Myung) is the type who can’t live without having relationships with others. Ji-Young and Byeok-Soo meet.” – Asianwiki, Individualist Ms. Jiyoung
Dee Say: This is by far one of the best mini-series I’ve seen. Hand down to this heartwarming story and I can’t help but applaud the simple storyline and casting of this drama. I’m one of Gong Myung’s fan and I’m so happy that at least in a mini-series, he gets the girl. I hope one day, he’ll be given the chance to be the lead character in a series. I hate that I’m having a ‘second lead syndrome’ with him.
Fight For My Way 8.5/10
Episodes: 16 | Genre: Romance, Comedy | Release Date: May 22 – July 11, 2017
“The Drama tells the story of Ko Dong-Man and Choi Ae-Ra. In their school days, Ko Dong-Man took part in taekwondo. Now, he makes a living by working as a contract employee and also goes after the UFC title. Choi Ae-Ra hoped to become an announcer, but she gave up her dream. Now, she works at the information desk of a department store.” – Asianwiki, Fight For My Way
Dee Say: This series may not be perfect, but it definitely has the right ingredients in creating an unforgettable drama. Maybe it is too cheesy to my liking but what I like how realistic the story is. I found myself cheering hard and waiting patiently for Song Ha-Yoon‘s character (Seol Hee). For beginners, this is a good series to check. But again, in my opinion, there were better romcoms than this.
School 2017 10/10
Episodes: 16 | Genre: Romance, Comedy | Release Date: July 11 – September 5, 2017
“The plot follows a class of high school students attempting to overcome the stress of being ranked by their exam grades, and facing the difficulties of being a teenager in a high-pressure, corrupt system. Its central protagonist is Ra Eun-ho (Kim Se-jeong), a cheerful and kind-hearted 18-year-old who dreams of being a webtoon artist but is caught up in the search for a mysterious troublemaker in the school, known as ‘Student X’. When she is accused of being Student X, her dream of going to university to study art is put at risk as she faces expulsion.” – Wikipedia, School 2017
Dee Say: My baby Sejeong! If you’ve been following my blog, I guess you know how I’m going to rate School 2017. You can check one of my posts on this site: “The Only Reason You Need To Watch School 2017.“
Witch’s Court 9/10
Episodes: 16 | Genre: Romance, Comedy | Release Date: October 9 – November 28, 2017
“Ma Yi-Deum has worked as a prosecutor for 7 years. She sometimes resorts to drastic methods to win cases. One day, Ma Yi-Deum is transferred to a special division dealing only with sex crimes.” – Asianwiki, Witch’s Court
Dee Say: I honestly didn’t expect to love this drama. Find this addictive and has a good balance of romance and real-life stories. Hands down to the female lead character!
Chief Kim / Good Manager 9/10
Episodes: 20 | Genre: Romance, Comedy | Release Date: January 25 – March 30, 2017
“Kim Sung-Ryong (Namgung Min) used to manage money for gangs, but by an accidental opportunity, he begins to works as the chief of an accounting department for TQ Company. He struggles to save the decaying TC Company, fighting against corruption and irrationality in the company.” – Asianwiki, Good Manager
Dee Say: While watching the trailer, I suddenly realize how much I miss watching this series! This may not be the best series for others (there are many better than this), but this is so good to watch. A thumbs up for me!
The Best Hit 9/10
Episodes: 32 | Genre: Fantasy, Romance, Comedy | Release Date: June 2 – July 22, 2017
“In the year 1993, pop idol Yoo Hyun-Jae accidentally travels through time to 2017. Discovering that he mysteriously disappears in 1994 and is presumed dead, he begins to investigate into the reason for his disappearance while trying to adjust to life in the future. Meanwhile, Lee Ji-Hoon is an aspiring musician and is secretly enrolled as an idol trainee at Star Punch Entertainment.
